Is their any point in fitting LSD if the car already has traction control or am I missing the point? I am about to start upgrading my MK4 Golf TDI suspension, brakes, clutch etc before working on more power so I started pondering the idea of LSD.

As far as i am aware both Quaife and Peloquin are are the same design and both just as good as each other.Peloquin sale the LSD for your car in a kit with all the bits provided where as Quaife sale all the bits needed but leave you to order what parts you want. Either way best going to a authorized dealer/fitter to get it fitted as you will then get a life time guaranty if anything goes wrong.

I ordered my peloquin direct from www.thescirocco.com Peter there sorted me out with a good price and it was good as the $ was 2:1. Can't be said now though so best trying to find someone in the UK who can do a whole supply & fit deal. If you get change from £1000 you'll be doing well, regardless of brand.

£1k? Ouch!

Whilst you TDI experts are here, can I ask what size wheels/tyres you would advise? I currently have standard 15" wheels on my Golf but Im not sure whether to go for 17" or 18". I was always under the impression 18"+ will start to effect the speedo. I'm mainly looking at things from a traction point of view. The current wheels seem to grip pretty well but because I plan on more power I think it's probably the best next mod. cheers.

17" is a reasonable comfort/performance combo. You can go to 18s on the golfs though, mk IV.

Don't worry about the speedo as you get tyres thin enough to compensate for the bigger alloys and retain the same rolling radius. No harm in going a little bigger though, say 5%.

Diffs are expensive and a pain to fit as it needs a full gearbox removal and strip down, then rebuild, to get them to fit.

Highly recommended from me too - my old Fabia vRS as stock would struggle to put the power down, if it is even remotely slippery. The Quaife transformed the way the power could be used.

That was 'stock' - with a remap the difference is even more pronounced as you got so much more torque/power to transfer :)

It is probably not the first mod to do though :D

Infact ive never heard any posts from either of you about trackdays, devon been on the 1/4 a few times I have to admit, but im fairly confident round Cadwell, Donnington, Silverstone etc ;)
