Hi all,

My silver Leon Cupra has gone and I now have a shiny new 140 Altea XL.

I ran the Cupra with a remap, which gave fantastic performance (with just a hint of clutch slip) and am thinking of upgrading the Altea.

A remap would give me a good power improvement, but I am wondering if there would be more advantage in having a lpg system fitted. (Powershot as per devonmikeyboy.)

I think that the power gains are similar, but the main advantage, given the rising cost of diesel, would be the improved mpg.

I have been told that lpg can give problems by drying out gaskets.

I would like to hear from anyone who has had a powershot convertion carried out on a 140, and what power \ mpg gains could I expect.

Cheers and best wishes to all for the new year.

Marty.

Unless you are going to fit a hybrid turbo and aim for big power get a remap. A remap is a lot cheaper to buy, quicker to install, you don`t have a cylinder in your boot plus a remap is invisable to the eye so the choice is yours as to where you tell your insurance company or not. It is a very cheap system to run once installed though as a 20 litre tank of LPG lasts me about 5 tanks of diesel plus when i told my insurance company about having the system fitted it was done for environmental and economy reasons i didn`t know that it was going to raise my BHP honest...

Every insurer i have ever been with have never added a penny to my insurance due to LPG. If you wanna save money in the long run then go with LPG but i have never heard of it improving performance myself but if you want to spend more money on diesel than go with the remap. Or go for both of them and save money lol[B)]

It took me 8 months to pay back for the LPG(by comaparing the savings) but i do about 15,000 a year. Ive had it for over 2 years so i think ive saved quite alot:p
