Lowering springs off a mk4 golf?

does a mk4 golf share the same platform as the mk2 leon as far as the suspension is concerned. i have a 56 reg fr tdi and have found some pro kit springs to fit a mk4 golf, i think they fit but just wanted to ask the professionals
