guys help, my pedal is awfully low when the car is cold i really have to push it into the floor to get in and out of gear, as the car warms up the pedal rasies, still not to its normall height but certainly more comfortable, this seems to have gotton worse over a few weeks, i know its not the weld snapping as its alread snapped and there is a bolt in its place at the moment...

am i looking at master cylinder? if so how much?

Also anyone bought a new clutch pedal? how much?

thanks guys

Mine is like that all the time. I've got used to puttin my foot behind it to pull it out all teh time.

It is apparently the master cylinder, iirc theyre about 30 quid on ebay the other day. Try bleeding it first tho.

But keep me posted anyway, i'll be interested to see what you do to sort it.

Well guys i was having the same trouble as you guys are having now after my clutch pedal snapped! (Bloody things!![:@] )

Once my pedal had been rewelded in the car, it never seemed to return to its normal height it used to be. I'd do what 'PHILW' does but after abit got annoying as i wasn't like that before.

So i bought a new releveling spring which attaches to the pedal an once you've pressed the pedal, brings the pedal back up.

Only a couple quid from the stealers! so was worth a try and paided off in the end. Not only did it return to its normal height the clutch felt so smooth and soft like new!!

Cheers jay

My machanic also thought it was my clutch master cylinder but i wasn't willing to change that until i had tried the cheaper option first.

(How simple is it to change a spring, then the whole bloody master cylinder!! )

Hmm, rather the spring first:p

If you look in the footwell, where your clutch pedal is. Look up just behind it, between the pedal an the firewall. You can't miss it! It has a white cap thingy on the end of it.

When fitting the new spring you may want to compress it a abit first an cable tie it, then fit it in its location an cut the cable tie and just make sure the spring is sat in properly. (Make fitting it abit easier;) )

P.s let me know how you get on and if it does the trick!

Mine does the same - cold or freezing days, i jump in the car and have to pull the pedal from the floor with my foot. ..Almost like it's cowering away down there.

Any details on the leveling spring?

Mine has got to be the master cylinder coz its as if the clutch is slipping when he high gear low revs under load and its tough to engage gear.

the pedal will come all way up without any problems when it gets past a certain point, its as it the brass pic that the ball joint is on (i have no joint at the mo just a bolt to oush against it) isnt coming back up far enough, its really hard to engage gear to start with but still no slipping etc... wondering if havin no ball joint has killed the master cylinder!?
