Right i tried a search for this but couldnt seem to find the exact thing :D

Basically, in the last week or so my turbo seems to be generally louder. In higher revs i.e. from 3000-4000 RPM there is a noticeable high pitched whistle. This noise didnt seem to occur before, also the pressure release on lift off seems louder.

Could this be some sort of possible wear-in, or am i in deep shiznit?

Car has done about 16500 miles, MK2 leon tdi 140.

Thanks guys.

My turbo seems to be getting worse now, well louder anyway.

It seems to make this noise the first time you boot it from starting the engine(when warmed up) its most noticeable in 2nd gear. I want to know whats going on with it though as it sounds like one of those party things you blow on :D

But the turbo seems to be generally louder in all aspects as well as the strange whirring noise.

I thought about that, but it doesnt do it all the time.

It seems to be the first time the turbo gets a good wind up then its not as bad after that, if it was a boost leak would it not be noticable all the time?

To be honest, I don't know. I'm thinking that once the hoses are warmed up, they are that bit more flexible and maybe they let the leak out "easier" hence less noise. Vag-com would show requested boost vs actual which could show up a leak.

Other than that I'm thinking about bearings and stuff in the turbo but don't know enough to offer advice that you should act on or take any notice of...... sorry.

Just noticed the age of the car.... would it still be under warranty ?

Thanks anyway, yes its still under warranty for another year so if the turbo does fail anytime soon it will hopefully be replaced
