Loud knocking under braking

Got a few problems with the car at the moment.

Everytime I brake I get a loud knocking from the front of the car. Jacking it up it seems to be coming from inside here...

Also would you get these replaced as all the rubber boot has been dragged up inside??

Any ideas guys? The car has had a fair tough life so far, but I need to get these sorted by the time the warranty runs out.

Sounds like wear of the inner cv joint , which is perhap why your hearing the noise. However, i would have thought you would have heard noise all the time or especially round corners. 2nd picture shows the bellows for the strut which prevents crap going into strut piston area - clearly needs strut stripping down and bellow replacing. Bellows are approx £6. Inner cv joint approx £50 for aftermarket one all pus fitting charge

They replaced the strut and bushes, but its worse now than ever. I get a fair amount of noise on full lock too.

Theyre new pics Rash ;)

Any Ideas on whether i should push for a replacement of the shock as the boot has gone up inside...? They claim its a common Mk4 Problem?

well obviously something is causing this so seat changing the rubber "bellow" will not solve the problem! maybe some heavy cornering :whistle:

Ive been crazy busy at work, so have not had a chance to get back to them... ESP still turns itself off too :doh:

I'll get them to check the Cv joint... what about the suspension boot thingy :redface: ??

If that suspension boot isnt replaced sooinsh you could end up getting stone chips or damage to the piston, if this happens it will break the seal in the shock and it will leak. Get it replaced asap, and as for the cv boot, id get that changed aswell to be on the safe side.

Well its going in FINALLY on monday for 4 days!!!

Sounds fairly awful braking and cornering at the moment.

Cant wait to get it back like new ;)

ESP still turns itself off too :doh:

Does it do this every time you drive it - if so, see if it always happens the same amount of time after starting up. If it does, I think I know the answer as my TDI Sport did the same, always 10 mins after startup ;)

Yep. The wiring from the alternator passes through a connector on the front of the gearbox. One of your wires will be broken off. Just ditch the connector and solder links in (remembering which way the wires were connected ;) ).

I would do it myself, but if its going to be in most of the week having other stuff fixed, then I may as well let them do it.

You've probably saved them a whole day of fiddling with the ESP to see why it wouldnt work :rolleyes:

Hopefully I should get it back just like new!!!

Well I can hope anyway.

Well got it back today "all fixed".

5 minutes down the road, and ESP back on and brakes knocking as good as before.

Not a happy chappy... back in it goes at the end of the month

[:@] Im going to push to have the new Leon demo cupra as a courtesy car, as I am fed up with the little 1.4 Ibiza I keep getting.

Off to have a beer :censored:
