loss of power

to all, i have a seat leon 1.9tdi, (90bhp) the baby model lol.the problem i have is that i swear i have lost pull in the turbo section of the rev range, the turbo whistles as normal. when i accelerate it is all very good until it reaches 80 ish at which point it shuts down all normal power and feels like im driving it with out a turbo i find it hard to get upto the national speed limit on dual carriegways. but if this occurs i can turn off the engine restart and the engine will pull as normal again and will be fine until i go upto 75 80 again? some people have said to replace the airmass sensor but i dont want to just spend money on things it might not be?? any suggestions or same symptons?? thanks jon

Plenty of info on this in the TDI section, sounds like it going into limp mode, either due to a boost leak or depending on engine code if you have a VNT then maybe sticky vanes. But this is all covered in the TDI section. have a look.

This could be the MAF Sensor or maybe the coolant temperature sensor.
I would have it checked out with VAGcom for any fault codes.

ive never heard of a MAF sensor causing a car to go into limp mode, they die slowly whereby the performance just drops off, doesnt limp.

But agreed, a check with vag com for whats logged will put you in the right direction.

could be air sensor? mine use to go into limp mode and that ended to be fault
