Loose wing mirror glass...help!

Hey all.

Ever since I had my car the passenger side wing mirror glass has been loose, it doesnt stay in place. They are the electric folding type mirrors. Even the bass from the music makes the poor thing rattle about. Its really annoying as I position the mirror where I want it with the door control and then within about 2 mins the mirror has dropped/is not in the place I set it.

Any ideas on how the mirror is fixed to the housing/internals and is there an easy to fix this? Or am I looking at a whole new mirror unit? I had a search on the forums but to no avail...

:help:

Cheers!

Thanks for the speedy response DPJ!

Should I know anything about how to remove the glass?
Or will it just come off with a gentle tug (as it where  )
I dont want to cause anymore damage/mess up the internals!

As for the sticky pads, that sounds like a plan!

Cheers!

I've never had to take the glass from a VAG car, but on others the glass will come with gentle prising.....

After having a look at my mirror last night, im still having problems.
It appears the reason as to why my mirror is loose is not the actual glass becoming unstuck. :(

At the back of the mirror is plastic and the plastic is held by 2 clips which are attached to the motor unit which allows the electric mirror to be controlled.

It appears that the clip on the left hand side is actually missing so the mirror glass is only being held in by the right hand side clip leaving the left hand side of the glass loose and flapping about!

Anyone any ideas on whether or not I can get a replacement clip to fix the left hand side of the mirror back in place? Or is it going to be a whole new mirror unit?

Also...I was struggling to get the cover off the mirror to have a closer look, I removed the two screws underneath and was able to partially remove the bottom half of the mirror but was still unable to take the top coloured section off.

Any feedback would be so very much appreciated!! :)
