Hi All,
Joined this group tonight after searching around the internet for information regarding Seat Leon Cupras.
Being a family man, I only have approx £2k (maybe able to stretch to £2.5k) to spend so was hoping if anyone can give me some advice on what to look for when buying this car.

From looking through autotrader online and ebay, it looks like I can only afford up to 2001/2002 model of the Seat Leon Cupra.

Also, are there any hidden costs I should think about eg regular serving etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers any guidance.

Err I'm no expert but a decent service history is obviously going to be essential. Cambelts need doing I think at the first 40k and then each subsequent 60k, although I may stand corrected.

If possible, try and get model year 2 one and check the engine code. The "APP" engine code has a slightly less sporty turbo than it's AUQ counterparts...

There are some common problems with the cars but nothing too major - leaks on door seals and footwell, and I think the boot catch playing up but thats about it.

Obviously someone else with a lot more knowledge than me will be along soon and give you a full run down...

Good luck :D

my 2001 (x reg) ovni leon cupra cost me £2200 about 2 months ago, its got 83K miles, service history and runs really well, i'm now planning to spend some money in the summer changing a few bits and adding some nice modifications to increase performance a little. i've seen a 51 reg cupra for about the same price recently. You wont regret buying one, i certainly dont.
