Maybe add a glaze into the mix...

If the car is nearing needing doing then clay as normal, polish if needed but then add a glaze before the wax.

On speed blue you should be able to use something like PoorBoys Black Hole or Chemical Guys Black Light, glazing is best when done by DA machine imo but you can do it by hand if you dont have access to one. Two layers should be fine followed by two layers of your HD wax.

Just tried Chem Guys Wet Mirror Finish on my Black car, came up great ... then I put collinite 476 on (man that was a bitch to buff off) and it took a fair bit of the wet look away, so another wax is on the cards, someone elsewhere mentioned Valentines Road and Track is good for the wet look..

wet enough look

I'm still trying to determine if the guy at the side likes it or not...

How is it better with a da?

Glazing by DA allows you work the product better, with less effort that by hand.

PB Blackhole via DA is very impressive on dark cars.

The machine breaks down the product by friction and heat that you cannot generate by hand... it is generally the breaking down of the product that gives the best results.

With a glaze its possible to increase the depth and gloss with subsequent layers by machine, although in saying that, there will be a point where your just applying product for the sake of it. The placebo effect essentially.

I've said it before about Colli 476s... its a good wax for the price and very durable but it definitely lacks in the looks department. Ideal as a winter wax though.

On dark colours the best wet looking wax i have seen is Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax, it can apparently be a pain in the ass to buff though... but, when you get it right, its beautiful. Not the cheapest in the world but by no means the dearest either

For a bit less you could do a lot worse than DoDo Juice Purple Haze Pro - this is basically Purple Haze with Red Mist ingredients added to make a hybrid wax / sealant that gives a good wax effect in the finish but with added durability from the sealant.

You could of course try PH Pro in a panel pot to see how you get on with it first.

Or, as a bit of a curve ball, my all time favourite wax by DoDo Juice, this stuff looks superb on any colour imo.
