Looking at getting a TDi Reference Sport

Well here goes my 1st post on this forum

After test driving a few Leon's last weekend both the mk 1 TDi FR's and TDi Cupra's and a mk 2 Reference sport, i have decided that best option (for me) is to go for a TDi Reference Sport.

I have read numerous road test's etc and all of them seem to rate the mk 2's as pretty good and i won't be driving around in a car that was 1st produced 8 or so years ago

So, i'm currently trawling the web and dealers (this weekend) to find out who is offering the best deal. So far it's a close run between www.drivethedeal.co.uk, www.directseat.co.uk and www.gr8cardeal.co.uk with the difference being approx £100. Am i likely to get a local dealer (I'm based in Cambridge) to match or get anywhere near the £14k price (including metallic paint) ?

Has anyone got any experiences of getting cars from web based suppliers compared to dealers ?

Hopefully someone will be able to help.

Sean

Out of interest will those online prices include the SEAT Summer Heat offer of the bodykit, twin exhausts and 18" wheels for £16,000 as the conditions state that this is from participating dealers only. I know Drivethedeal use UK dealers to supply their cars but I don't know whether the special offer would still apply to the discounted price.

If not you will have to work out which is the better offer (assuming you like the bodykit that is!):)

Not that bothered about the 'go faster' bodykit etc, etc. I'm quite happy with the standard look [B)]

I got my TFSI Sport back in June through Drive The Deal and saved £1900, my local dealer wouldn't go beyond a £700 discount!

Just spoke to Stoneacre in Peterborough and they don't know how www.directseat.co.uk can get them for just over £14k with metalic paint ;)

I'm going to try Marshalls in cambridge to see what they can do

I think the order is going to be placed next week to the lowest option. However, i did notice www.directseat.co.uk have a Stylance sport tdi for £15,295  ;)

Dealers always say that (not just Seat!). Cuts into their margin / wife's spending money / bit on the side's new boob job.

OK, i have trawled the local dealers and Coupers in St Albans can sell me one for £100 more than directseat, but this would be an 06 rather than an 07, what's the difference :help:
