Lookers - Stockport. Any good ?

Hi Guys,

Picked up my silver 04 LCR over the weekend. Well chuffed with it apart from the leaking footwell.

Anyway, does anyone use Lookers in Stockport ? Any good ?

... Or any other SEAT garages / specialists round South Manchester who you can recommend. It's my first VAG motor, so any advice gladly received.

Looks like Awesome GTi are in Irlam, which is only 10 miles away from me, but for servicing I would like to maintain the Official SEAT history (for what it's worth).

I wouldn't say it's worth anything really. Awesome will almost definitely do a cheaper and better job of it than a seat dealer. As long as it's been properly serviced I can't imagine it'd affect the resale value at all. (Seat isn't exactly a prestige make )

Had my 2nd year service done with them on my Cupra R.

Took me 3 phone calls to find out if the car was ready for collection, to be told on the third attempt it was, only to find when i arrived it was still in the bay being worked on.

However the service was complete to my satisfaction, but i've had much better service.

Tried talking shop with their sales at one point, and I couldn't gauge whether he was asleep or under medication, he was that un-interested in trying to sell me a car. My neighbour recieved the same level of dis-interest too, and she left and bought a Civic instead of a Leon FR.

Lookers are my local dealer, but I've gone to Barnsley for my new car and my most recent servicing, kind of sums it up really, I get far better service in another county.

They may of improved as I know they have been under a large transition since Rover went belly up, and are now a SEAT / Kia dealership, so things maybe more settled.

Under EU block exemption rules, Awesome can service your car, using SEAT/VW parts and your warranty and service book are just as valid as if a SEAT dealer stamped it.

True, I agree - But, a main dealer history is 'perceived' to be better to a potential purchaser. Rightly or wrongly !

Either way, I have no plans on selling. Lookers are just round the corner so very handy - Greatful for any views on them.

Took mine to them last week and they scratched the bumper after a service. To their credit though they did repair the damage, although it was touch up paint. V bottom of bumper though so not really noticeable.

I'd say make sure you do a full bodywork check before leaving it mate, just in case.

ive used david cook motors in chadderton, oldham for the last 4 or so years, always been good to me and keen enough on main dealer servicing costs (im in south manc)

Lookers can sometimes be good, say 30th of Feb each year! Will not use ever again! Awesome Are Fantastic! Great service and dont talk down to the wife (she has Clio Trophy)! Think an Awesome stamp will mean more than a Lookers one after all they are specialists for enthusiastic owners! This could be sais for servicing at other VAG specialists!

having had my car serviced at Awesome a few times i wouldnt hesitate to flip the dealer off in their favour, after all the LCR is a highly sought after specialist car- so why not let a specialist take care of it?

Just noticed this section. I'm looking at buying an Ibiza FR 20VT in Feb, I've been to David cook, in Chadderton and they seemed great. Really interested in what I wanted and to help out with my Financial rip-off trade in, good to know someone else has given them a good shout

I did go to lookers first but experienced a serious pushy sales tactic and a general disinterest in what I wanted. I was going to ditch the Seat idea but a friend recommended David Cook.

I pick up my baby on Thursday from them. Excellent service, non pushy sales and they let you take the car on your own for a good hour or two (I have had three test drives of nearly 5 hours total!). A much more pleasant experience!
