My locking wheel bolt key has rounded off (cheers tire garage), I have heard that there are some methods of getting the bolts out without the key, could someone tell me how this is done? If you don’t want to post it on a forum, then could you PM me? I don’t mind ruining the bolts as I have a new set waiting to go on.

Alternatively, if someone local has a number 52 locking bolt key they wouldn’t mind lending me….

Cheers :D

Take it to a decent tyre shop some will cut them off with an air chisel.
There are other ways but you will probley damage your wheel and it will take ages

Buy some of the reverse thread sockets sold for removing rounded off and seized bolts. You just hammer them on to the bolt so they catch a bit and then put your ratchet on to it and undo it. Because the thread cut inside is backwards as you turn the socket to undo it it bites into the rounded off head and hopefully grips enough to undo it. It worked for me on my old Prelude when the garage snapped my key using an air gun on it [:@]
I d strongly advise to steer clear of taking it to a tyre place to remove them, they attempted to do mine and dented the wheel. But every garage is different.

mate my advise would be pay a visit to Audi, VW or SEAT they keep master sets (there are about 6 variations) they can find out which key you need and you can buy a new one for £13
But it has to be a mains dealer not a 3rd party dealer.

But looks like i was too late

another tip is to hammer on a socket that is just bigger than the bolt so it grips the nut and you can turn it off.

Or do what I did and end up welding an old nut onto the security nut and twist it off that way.
