light weight seats

Hi,
I am looking into replacing my front seats in an 03 tdi sport.
I want to replace with light weight bucket recliner seats (as car is a 3dr).

Does anybody know weight of existing seats and can recommend a good set of light weight seats (not too expensive would help as well :) )

Thanks

Simon

Hello Simon,

May I ask, why do you want light weight bucket seats if you still have back seats :cartman:

First stage would be to take the back ones out! Then make the fronts lighter!

However, I have been looking into this, and generally its not the seats (I didnt look for recliner ones so not sure) but the frames that are hard to find.

So if anyone can help there, then we both win :)

I c your point however the car still needs to be practical, so need rear seats :-(

First aim of the front seats is actually to be better supportive (more rap around so you will stay in them). Used to have Nissan 350z and they had great seat. Comfy yet very supportive.

However having just come from a Lupo gti I want to keep weight of the ibiza down and if possible want to see what options there are to save weight as part of changing the seats for more support.

I also started looking at standard buckets, but i am not sure about practicality in a 3dr.

From your post, do you mean that the main weight is the subframes, or is it just difficult to find subframes for buckets that fit the ibiza?

Unless the entire seat folds forward that shouldn't pass an MOT with the rear seats in.

Yes you could. When i fitted steering wheel that came with the wiring to stop the air bag light coming on. Will look into it but it's not really a prob even at night.

I'm not worried about the whole weight thing, just that the standard seats are really uncomfortable and you fall out of them lol

If you dont change your seat try a CG seat belt lock this will hold you in place enough for all road use and works well on the track and costs £39.
