Leon Wanted a Sponge Bath

As my Leon is visiting Inde-Tech in Milton Keynes on Thursday because it's still poorly, I figured it needed a good clean, especially as the "valeter" who cleaned my car before I picked it up, didn't do a great job.

I didn't bother with taking too many pictures of cleaning it, I just went for my usual two bucket method, using my lamb's wool wash mitt and car shampoo. As you can see by the state of the buckets, the "valeter" definitely needs to re-think his chosen career path, as that is only from 2 weeks of ownership, where it has barely rained, and the car has barely been driven!

Now there's a few scratches on the bonnet and on the door panels so I figured once I'd dried it off with a fresh chamois that Scratch-X would be the best route to try and improve the look of it.

From the looks of it, the bonnet has been resprayed at some point, and not very well either but that's another job for a long weekend!

I left the Scratch-X on for a bit too long as it took forever to get it off, I also wanted to try out the new "ICE" range from Turtlewax as I don't always have the time to mask off the trim and glass, I was quite impressed with the finish, probably more on the trim than the paint though, but not bad for £12, especially as it comes with a large applicator pad and microfibre cloth.

As you can see from the photos, time ran out so I didn't manage to get some nice day shots, but I'm reasonably pleased for my 3 hours work, even though I was sneezing every 5 minutes cause of my bloody hayfever!

Came out to the car this morning, to notice thaat I had missed a few bits of Scratch-X where it was getting dark.

So I cracked out some polish that my dad "liberated" from Mercedez-Benz, and my word it really does a great job of getting rid of swirls.

I gave the bonnet 3 coats and all other panels just one coat, I don't think the pics do it justice but you can see how shiny it is from the sunlight bouncing off of it!

I think my favourite photo is the reflection of my dad's 307 in the rear quarter.

I used the ice last night, but today's pics i used this stuff from mercedez, ice gives an ok finish on paint but not that shiny, but it really brings the trim out a treat, just gotta make sure you give it a good rub down
