Hi,

Just about to return back to the Seat ownership fold after 2 years away. I'll be picking my new 1.9 TDI SE at the end of the week. The car has a set of rear parking sensors fitted. I'm after a towbar fitted but the dealer reckons that due to the rear parking sensors the only solution will be a removable towbar. £300+vat (ish).

Is this the case or will a normal (and way cheaper) towbar do the trick?

I'd say that the dealer is probably right in this case. Not sure exactly where the sensors are fitted but I'd assume they would pick up the towbar all the time. This is what happens on my dad's BMW when he has the detachable towbar attached. The other option would be to get the permanent towbar and disconnect the parking sensors. Depends what's most important to you. Personally, I'd get the detachable towbar and only fit it when needed, I think it would look better. Does the rear valance need to be cut to fit the detachable one, and a blanking plate used when not attached?
