Hi i have a leon 110 tdi se , iv been looking at diesel tuning boxes i cnt afford a remap yet so was looking into diesel tuning boxes. Have you got any experience with any? are the gains any good? and does mpg improve? Also does my leon have a vp37 pump? as some boxes require a vp37pump

Don't do it, they are cheap and fall apart, cause temp sensor to fail and can give you other running problems, although they do give you a little more power.

I'd agree with the above post but only so far as cheapo ebay boxes - especially ones that claim to be digital when they're not which is where you can get many problems.

I got the PD2 box from Diesel Tuning UK - very noticeable performance increase. Fitted it in about 10 minutes, have had no problems with it so can highly recommend - but it's not cheap.

Save your pennies & go for a remap, Reputable Mappers are now doing some very keen prices, Due to the Credit Crunch ...

I have the same car, 1.9TDI Leon 110 SE (53 plate).

Is a remap the best performance modification to go for? By having more performance will it compromise the economy?

Finally wheres the best places to get quotes for getting it remapped? Also what would be the best kind of remap to do? Would most independent garages do them - can they be trusted and roughly how much am I looking to pay?

I applogise in advance if some of this stuff sounds trivial to you guys, I had a quick look through the TDI section and didnt find what i was looking for. Im not very technical with cars however forever learning more thanks to the forum

So any advice/help is greatly appreciated in advance :)

Kev, this is covered the TDI section, i would have posted up before about Non PD remaps etc, but to summarise quick for you :-

Its the best 'bang for buck' performance mod to go for, after an initial remap your looking at larger chunks of money for bigger turbo etc

A remap wont use any more fuel if you drive in the same way, usually though after a remap people drive harder so hence use more fuel. Actually in a tdi you can get better economy if you take advantage of the extra torque to allow you to change down less.

best person to do a remap on a non PD TDI is a Upsolute remap, they come to you, speak to Simon Coe.
