Hi,

Joakim from Sweden

I am looking to buy a Leon SC 1.4 TSI FR 2014 model year. Manufactured June 2013. Is the timing belt or timing chain?

The car has passed 45000 km. When replace the timing belt?

Just enquired with seat.uk about the cam belt on my 1.2 TSI, the advice was 160,000 miles or 5 years. Whichever comes first. Suspect the 1.4 would be the same.

Volkswagen just have a blanket 5 years policy though they caveat with a less than useful "This may need to be changed sooner for high mileage drivers.". If the 160,000 miles figure above is accurate then for 99.9% of people 5 years will be OK!
