This may be a totally ridiculous post but I am not clued up on this car as much as you guys. I know about the nav and all that but here goes:

Invested in a Fr+ 61 plate (awaiting delivery)

Why is there no fr gear knob or fr stiched into the seats????

Personally I think it takes the look away.

Is there any other small details I can't see yet?

The FR+ has the following additional equipment as standard which was either not available on the FR at all or was available only as optional extras:-

  • 18" 'Ibera' alloy wheels
  • Bi-xenon headlights
  • Bluetooth Communications Pack
  • Touch-screen satellite navigation
  • DAB radio tuner
  • SD card slot
  • Bluetooth audio streaming
  • Front parking sensors

Other than the loss of the logos which I think were removed when the facelifts came in (so these were also missing on the facelift FR), I'm not aware of anything else that have disappeared.

Thanks for the speedy reply.... I know all the extras listed it was just the reason for the logos being taken away that buggs me. It looks better with them... i might buy the older seats, dials and gear knob....

Thanks again!

Yeah I know but realistically it will be done over time. Its my first proper car and Want to get it looking perfect.

The seats are on ebay for 250, the gear knob is 85 and I haven't looked for the dials yet.

Looks like I was wrong about the FR logos disappearing when the facelift was introduced. This is a facelift and clearly has the FR logos on the interior items...

Seats and gearknob change would probably be fairly straight forward but the instrument cluster would need to be coded to your car. That's assuming you can actually find any. If you do, don't expect them to be cheap.

Like I said... Total newbie! Once the car is delivered it probably wont bother me but I just prefer how much more of an Fr it looks... The gear knob in the Fr plus is pretty bland. There is no Fr on the speedometer either. Takes the edge away.

Roll out models using the last of the MK2 stock to build.

Looks like you're probably right. In fact, looking around on the web, the only facelift FR's I can seem to find with the FR logo'd interior are the orange ones that were used for the press reviews of which there appears to have been two - KM59 VFR and KS59 FSX. One is in the link I posted earlier and this is the other one...

I guess it's even entirely possible that the logo'd interior only ever existed on the press cars in order to help showcase the newly revamped FR to the world. If that is the case then trying to get hold of some facelift clocks with the FR logo on would be near impossible. Seats and a gearknob however can just come from a pre-facelift car.

Our 2010 FR had the logo on the seats, gear knob etc. Pretty sure they changed it when they started putting the 1.4 in the FR.

I don't know of any aftermarket dials for the Leon so I believe OEM is your only option. Not to put a downer on things but based on the very small number of early facelift FR models that appear to have had the FR logo dials fitted, the chances of getting some secondhand ones are probably very slim to none. If any do ever come up for sale then I expect a house remortgage would probably be in order to actually purchase a set.

Also, keep in mind that the instrument cluster contains the immobiliser, so as well as getting a replacement cluster coded to your car, you would also need to get the relevant immobiliser data transferred from your existing cluster to the replacement one. The facelift Leons have the 5th generation VAG immobiliser and VCDS doesn't currently support anything beyond the 4th generation immobiliser. So you may need to get a dealer/specialist to try and do the instrument cluster swap for you which probably won't be cheap. I'm not sure if anyone with a facelift Leon has ever done an instrument cluster transplant with another secondhand unit before but if someone is aware of a such a case the it would be interesting to know.

It would most likely end up costing a lot of money just for a few white needles and an FR logo on the dial face.
