Leon Last Edition climatronic problem

Hello,

I own a Leon Last Edition (Spirit as is advertized in Romania), 1.9 TDI that is equiped with climatronic.

Today we had a short trip to another town. At the start of this trip, the climatronic was set to Automatic with 21 degrees Celsius. I drove to my destination but observed nothing out of the ordinary. The outdoor temperature was around 17 degrees Celsius but it was sunny day.

After ariving at my destination, I parked the car, went to do my business and returned after 2 hours. I took the car and headed back home.

On the way back, the climatronic was set at first to auto but I set the temp to LO (lowest posible because it was pretty hot inside the car after 2 hours of staying in the sun). But, surprise, the air pumped from the vents was not quite cool and the interior was not getting cooler even after half an hour of driving.

I was surprised and I starded to play with climatronic controls, and I noticed that after I disabled the compressor (as I understand from the manual, the compressor, aka the cooling system is on as long as the snowflake is showed on the display and is off if the showflake sign is not displayed) the air from the vents begun to get cooler. Quite the opposite from what I expected!

Did I get the meaning of the cooling button wrong? Do you have any ideea? Should I contact my dealer over this?

Horia

If the snowflake is ON, it should be COOLER/COLDER than it is with it OFF. So your theory is right.

Sounds weird, might be worth getting it looked at if it still has warranty.

The car is brand new. I've got it in January 2006. I have around 1500 km on board . So I think re-gassing is out of the question theoretically !?

Is is possible that because the outdoor temperature was below the minimum settable climatronic temp ( around 17C outside < 18C minimum on climatronic ) the compressor is not really working and the cooling effect I've got from disabling the climatronic was obtained because fresh outside air was let it?

I observed this behaviour only yesterday because usually I drive in the mornings for work and get back in the evenings and until now the temperatures were not high enough. Only yesterday after letting the car in the sun for 2 h I really needed a cool atmosphere inside.

Horia

P.S. Do you have any ideea where the inside temperature sensors are placed?

Problem solved

Finally, I took the car to the dealer. The problem was easily solved as there was only some kind of broken contact somewhere under the hood. 5 minutes later the vents started to blow very (brrrr .... ) cold air.
