Leon Keep Cutting Out.

Hello all,

I've got this recurrent problem with my 1.4 Leon S (W reg) which was bough second hand a year ago. It usually cut out after a few minutes drive when i slow down and foot on clutch e.g. roundabout, traffic light.

When i first noticed this problem (after i bought it which the seller did tell me), i cleaned the filter housing and noticed a considerable amount of emulsion. This seemed to do the trick so whenever it happen again (roughly once a month) i just clean the filter housing. Also replaced the panel filter.

Recently this method doesn't work anymore. Detached the crankcase breather pipe (dunnno if this is the right term) and noticed the interior of these rubber hose is disintegrating and do not retain their round shape with traces of emulsion. I suspect the emulsion is blocking the interior pipe so cleaned it but the car still cutting out.

Psychologically, i normally change the engine oil every 5000 miles which i think help and it is due for one. Should i get a new pipe/aftermarket breather filter or am i barking at a completely different tree as to why it keep cutting out. Any suggestion?

I'd suggest you have a leak on your inlet manifold

have a good look over everything from the throttle the engine block to see if there's any small pipes that have fallen off.

Yeh  eyese are starting to hurt abit. Paragraphs would have helped.

As M0rk said, check the pipings, they may have snapped off or slipped off.
