I've just washed car and hoovered it, discovered drivers side carpet is soaking :censored:

I've done a bit of investigation and found that there is water under the door seal between the seal and the inner plastic trim, I'm thinking the water is getting in there somehow, possibly from drainage holes in the driver's door and is tracking back under the seal to the carpet in the foot foot well. The car does sometimes have excess condensation on the windows and also suffers from water in the inner surfaces of the windows after they have been wound down and back up, I'm thinking all of this could be related [:@]

Has anyone else noticed a wet drivers carpet? Reminds me of early mk1 leons.

Dealer will be getting call first thing in the morning...

Car has been with dealer today, sounds like they have run a hose pipe on it and can't find a big leak although they are going to replace the window seals due to moisture on the inside of the glass?!

I've suggested that the amount of water in the car probably wasn't caused by this... Not to mention the water under the seal!!

They are having the car next week to do a more comprehensive test.

How many times does a car have to go back with same fault before replacement / vehicle rejection can take place?

What are they doing next week which they couldn't do this week. I suppose at least they are looking inot it further rather than just fobbing you off staright away.

No idea about the rejection thing I'm afraid.

Fingers crossed that it is all sorted for you sooner rather later one way or another.

They are ordering a new window seal, but I've insisted I want further investigation doing so they are going to have the car for two days when they can give me a courtesy car.

It annoys me because I gave them so much information when dropping the car off, in my opionion they sholud have taken carpet out and looked for water ingress, with carpet out it'd be easy!!. Doesn't sound like they have tried much.

Mmmn, I see your point, yest that is pretty annoying - three days without your car.

I think sometimes garages just think you're plain stupid when you tell them about something sometimes and they look at you with disbelief.

Yep, I'm quite technically minded and although I'm not a SEAT trainined technician I'd have expected them to listen to what I'm telling them. Will have a word with the mechanic when I go to get my car.

Just got the car back.

They have replaced the window seal, fitted an addtional grommet where a hole existed in the door and made a "modfication" inside the door and used silicon to redirect the water within the door.

Will wash it at weekend and see what happens.

The seem to have cured the water on the inside of the window, loads of rain over night, after winding the window down and back up no moisture on the inside of it.

95% water still get into door seal though. Booked in again.

We bought a new Leon diesel in October for my partner. A couple of weeks later after it had been raining she noticed drivers side carpet was soaking wet, and also the inside of the drivers window was wet when she wound it down. At the time we thought they were connected. Car went back to the dealer, and they inspected it and ordered new door / window seals- they took 4 weeks to arrive. Got the car back to the dealers mid january, and they replaced them. As soon as it rained the carpets and the inside of the window were soaking wet again
Car's now back at the dealer. Spoke to a technician and he said he's seen quite a few leons and alteas with water on the inside of the window, but on reporting to Seat they are denying it's a fault with the car.
The dealer has been 'water testing' the car all week, and has said that they can't find the leak for the carpet. They even suggested that it was still damp from the last repair- even though that's over 6 weeks ago! Personally I think it's coming through the bulkhead when it's driven- living on the west coast of scotland you go through a lot of puddles!!!
We're off to see my solicitor about it tomorrow, and we will see what the dealer has to say when we pick it up on Tuesday. On top of that I've got issues with the quality of service from the dealer, but I love that car. Still thinking about swapping my passat for a cupra- if the leaks get cured.
Will keep you informed of any progress.

This sounds exactly the same as the leak in my Leon.

If you fold back the door seal on the sill near the hinged end is there water underneath?

Do you park your car on level ground or on a slope? My theory at the moment is that if it is parked on a slope facing uphill the water doesn't get in where as when it is level or parked on a slope facing down hill it does leak.

I think water gets into mine when it is stationary as well as on the move.

Have the dealers taken your carpet out to investigate underneath?

Did you collect your car at the end of October? (It may sound strange but could be a fault affecting vehicles during a certain build run)
