Got my leon fr tdi last week and got it remapped. What a hoot to drive!!!! serious serious pace! I noticed though after giving it some welly, there was a sudden power loss when on quick change from 3rd to 4th at 4k revs at bout 65-70 when you change into 4th the boost seemed to hesitate for a fraction and then back on! I thought it maybe traction in the wet weather. However the next day going to work in the dry it did it again. As 3rd to 4th was my most usual change when giving it some i only noticed it there. I phoned up the tuner i know very well who done my previous ibiza fr and he said to me he spoke to someone who had said in actual fact the car can do that to protect itself from damage to the engine, through the ecu. And it stalls the boost fractionally. I find that it only happens if i quick change but i have noticed from 2nd to 3rd gear also. 4th to 5th doesnt seem to be noticeable. Its a bit annoying im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. As i said if i take slightly more time on the change it doesnt seem to do it. Has anyone else had anything similar to this happen. Any opinions would be appreciated. The tuner has said however if i am worried or have any further probs to bring it in and he will see wot he can do. Any opinions would be really welcome guys cheers

Mmmm, i seem to get this, but only after giving it some for ages, when you change gear, it overboosts, and holds, then eventually drops down to the right psi and the power is spot on again, i have been told it could be sticky turbo vains. Just a thought

I understand mate, mine doesnt seem to boost up it just seems when changing at 4k(top tdi revs) i change to next gear the revs drop normally to about 3.5k-3.7k but then it dips to about 3.25k for a fraction and back on. Its weird lol

I dont think so mate only happens at the very highest of the revs in change about 3k-3.5k where the torque is low and the bhp high. Ive been driving it about this weekend and its barely noticeable. I think its right enough its probs just the ecu protecting the engine. I was just interested if anyone had similair experiences.

Had mine go to [ derating mode until engine temp reduces], but that was after a hot day and heavy flogging down to Cornwall, AND using Vpower, stopped using V power and the problem has NOT come back. .............................. still using Miller's though!!

Is there any kind of satisfaction warranty with your tunner? Maybe you could get your money back and have a free trial with someone else...

My tuner thinks he knows what it is guys, apparantly its the EGR valve causing an almost misfire kind of action when chaging quickly. ANy info on it? Cheers

Hi I have a seat Leon tdi cupra and have a similar problem now i fitted an induction kit with the long chrome pipe that takes it down to the bottom front bumper, I pulled out of my workplace whilst cold and accelerated quite aggressive as cars was coming then my car just lost all power I had to pull over for around 3 minutes seemed like it was a petrol misfiring after this it was fine

Next morning I removed the induction kit and replaced with standard box , after this when I first started my car for about 100 yards between 2000 - 3000k revs was holding back then after 100 yards drove perfect no power loss at all

It’s been around 3 weeks since this problem, I have cleaned my throttle body which was thick with soot & oil, filled my tank and added a fuel cleaner problem still remains

I have now noticed this power loss not only when cars cold but also for a slit second when car has been left standing for 20minutes or more not sure what to do

Cars standard do I get a re-map?

some TDi FR's have had rev holding issues known to some tuners. This is when acceleration is interrupted then the car starts to accelerate again. Not entirely sure if it's the same problem you have been getting, but a couple of tuners have made mods to there remaps to eliminate this problem.

Hi yes this is the issue i'm having , i do have the vag com lead set up not 100% sure what to do with it but will check for ECU & other fault codes before booking car in for a re-map as one is due thank you for your reply

I spoke to a specialist in ecu mapping etc. He believes it just the ecu controlling the boost to take away any chance of engine damage. If i drive it spirited and dont change gear so quickly its fine, had it in at the stealers standard and no faults found, also at standard the car wasnt having the problem, but after really trying to look for any glitch standard i did notice on very quick change a millisecond of hesitation, its not a really bad thing, i just find it weird as my ibiza mapped didnt have the issue. And it was a bigger increase, however im guessing the leon will have a further advanced ecu set up

Also the 130 engine doesn't have a DPF. remove the DPF from a PD170 and you are looking at an easy 230HP after a map.

Hi regarding my other post with power loss i took my car to vw center today to have it tested with vag com software the fault that came back was cylinder 3 & 4 electrical fault yes glow plugs was the issue, purchased 4 today took 1 & 2 out you could see they was working fine but 3 & 4 definetly was not working properly you can tell if the plug is totally black with soot just thought i would let you guys no check your plugs 1st
