As per title...

For those who have had theirs out, and know about the installation of them into the bumper...

I have a replacement foglight from ebay - FANTASTIC price compared to new, but from what i see the back is missing (cover to the bulb housing)

Now, when this is removed, should the bulb and bulb holder inside the fog light move up and down? It's seems like the height is adjustable on the foglamp???

Is this right? Or does the cover hold it in one place? or should it not move at all?

Can the foglight be opened up to get to the lens inside?

Cheers all
Paul

as far as i know they shouldnt move, and you cant get into them i think there a sealed unit, hence the big price for them!!

The back cover holds it in steady as it backs on to it, yet again i think from remembering what ive done!!

oh really? Bugger. Spose I have to check when i get my original out of the car.

The bulbs in it, the cover over the back is missing, but i can move the whole bulb/lens bit INSIDE the glass, it seems to pivot up and down. I've had a look and can't get into it, so looks like i have a dud foglamp holder... another ebay bargain lol... But it might not be broken, we'll see....

At least at the price i paid i can buy another 4 and still have paid less than the dealer price for 1.....

Had another look at home - seems that there is a torx screw on one side, running parallel to the housing, that doesnt actually seem to do ANYTHING at all... no idea why its there. Wondering if this does some form of foglight alignment....

There MUST be some alignment on a foglight, surely? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

EDIT: I've done a SEARCH, and found more info - and i've dragged up a really old thread. Hopefully it might help me get the right answers :)

EDIT EDIT: Sorted - see here for answer:

ah so i was wrong?? bloody knew it haha

you are right in a way mate - they shouldnt move... once in the car and adjusted they should be fixed - I am not certain if mine is ok yet, it might be knackered.. we'll see. Just hope the adjustment holds it level and in place.

I'll find out tomorrow when i fit it :)

Well its fitted now - and seems to do the trick :)

I've aligned it the best i can too.... and it looks ok.

So i'm happy - 1/4 of the price of the dealer yay!

indeed - i know the bulbs are replaceable - i changed mine ;)

The internals will move - its for alignment purposes - the TORX screw on the outside handles the alignment - once the torx screw is tightened slightly the internals stop moving - on mine it seems as though the torx had been loosened too much, and it was all just flopping about.

so is the torx screws to hold the unit in or just for adjustment ? If the latter what holds the unit in (to allow bulb replacement)

I have done a search (which is how I arrived at this thread) and looked through the guides. How do you get access to the lights ? I only want to check the wiring connector on my nearside Fog as it fails to work occasionally and just requires a gentle tap to get it working. This is on MK 1 Leon / MK 2 Toledo.
