the toolkit i mentioned earlier has an extension bar, snap the socket onto it and insert the sparkplug into the socket and its long enough to do by hand then use the wratchet part to tighten it.

ive always used copper grease as its not as runny as oil, plus youre less likely to get it on the tip of the sparkplug, you only need half a pea sized dab on the side of the thread, it spreads itself as you screw it in. and halfords yea.
the toolkit is a little like this only less sockets, as long as you have say sizes 8-15 and the extension bar you can do most jobs on the motor.

yea small tube is £2 or something. you dont have to use it but it definately helps get them back out after months/years of heat/cold/heat/cold cycles.
