Right, il start from the begining here....the coils went in the engine, i replaced all four with new ones, engine was ticking over fine,
took it up the road, first gear fine hit second around 3k revs it sounded like a boost pipe had poped off, stoped and opend the bonnet and it was tapping aswell. Got it off to a garage who said the tappets had gone, they replaced them....got it back together and its still tapping, when you drive it, it revs fine till around 3k rpm it judders for a second then pulls on fine like nothing is wrong.....but it still taps....

The garage doesn't really know whats going on and around 5-6 diferent people have now looked at it.
Iv been told 101 diferent answers to what it is.....now it's coming from the left hand side of the engine....the cam shaft tenshiner is on the right isn't it ?!? been told it could be this but a mate recons when you unplug this sensor it should stop ?

It's currently sitting in a garage with this fault...iv had a guy trying to buy it off me as it stands.....which i would sell it for at sensible money. What would one of you guys put a price on one with this fault.

Its a 225 , 53 plate, black , 65k miles....... hpi clear etc

Can anyone help/had similar problems with this sort of thing ? im a farmer by trade not a mechanic and im getting so many diferent people saying diferent things in my ear

The engine management light comes on sometimes and sometimes not

Its a loud tap as apozed to a tick.....has a slight rasp with it aswell when you rev it.....there must be something to do with the judering aswell at 3k revs, it stops reving for a second then pulls on normaly

Might be worth having a look with VAG-com to what faults/errors are logged.
If you don't have it, you can always ask in the VAG-com section for someone nearby to help you out :)

Same thing has been happening with mine since I bought the car - dealers found nothing wrong, been on going for 2 years now, got used to it.
