Leon Cupra R fast road/track day set up

Hi everyone I have a Seat Leon Cupra R and I'm looking into doing some more mods and having a go at some track days. The main spec of my car at the min is stage 2 Revo, custom decat exhaust, revo intake, eibach springs, Superpro torque mount insert, 4 new Michelin super sport tyres, uprated brake pads and brake fluid.

I'm looking at getting a wellycooler and some hard pipes made up along with high flow throttle and discharge pipes done and also an uprated clutch before the track day too. Also with a possibility of hpfp and 2+ map.

I will have some more budget too for a set of coilovers and some more handling mods. Would I be better going for front and rear anti-roll bars or an anti-lift kit and front wishbone bushes? Any other mods people may suggest?

Standard brakes are ****! No point in having power and poise if you can't stop the car, you'll spend more time trying to slow the car down on track than you will on the throttle with the standard single piston callipers. Decent 4pot callipers and a high temp co-effiecient pads are a must

Yup, 20 minute sessions and the standard Cupra brakes were cooked on my last car. Fine for the road, but got found out on the track. And they fit that same setup to the even heavier R32!

Towards the end of the day the pads were still smoking after the in-lap, I had to keep driving round the pit area for another 5 minutes to cool them down. Also, the wheel weights fell off because the adhesive melted :cartman:

Agree with the brakes comments, but also get some decent dampers fitted.

Seems odd to me to be even considering roll bars etc when you use stock dampers.

I am looking into doing the brakes but I was under the impression that as I have not done a track day yet I won't be pushing my car to the limit straight away, would have thought they would have handled 20 minute sessions of not going too crazy. Advice is taken on board so does anyone know of any decent set ups for sale?

In the ttrs set up what pads are you using? Are you using standard discs or ttrs discs?

It makes sense to stick to 20 minute sessions anyway - give yourself and the car a breather.

Good advice, my last TD I booked a sessioned type, so 20mins in every hour opposed to open pit lane, this also reduces numbers on track

Iv got the TTRS brembos fitted on vagbremtechnic carriers so I can use the 340mm TTS disc which are lighter than the standard 345mm. by a kilo each side. An overall weight saving of 11kg over the standard. You can use the TTRS discs (370mm) but due to them not being handed one side runs hotter than the other causing problems,and the discs are quite expensive.
Pads wise I'm still running around on cheap £50 pagid son from ECP. More than ample for the road and spirited driving, I managed to boil my brake fluid last bank hol Monday lol,so they did well, which is another thing I'd suggest, a quality racing style brake fluid.

There's a few kits for sale in various places on line, mostly used circa £600-£800.

I'm gonna suggest a deadset kit too of some description, I changed my subframe bolts to the ecs ones but it wasn't long before they where knocking again, annoying more than anything

Ye I have not long changed my discs and didn't know I could use the 340mm at the time, so missed the boat on that one. I did change the fluid to Motul RBF660 so that should be good enough so will just too that up.

Been looking at calipers on eBay, the ttrs ones on there mostly look like they need a refurb. Do you know anywhere that sells them already done? Will have a read through your thread too when I have chance.

Do you or anyone know much about the 18z caliper set up?

Can you explain more to me about the deadset kit please?
