leon 4x4

Its possible, the floor plan and rear suspension will all need to be changed, i've seen corrado's converted to 4wd using the golf rallye floor plan and running gear. I dont see what it cant be done, but it would be easier to convert a lhd 4x4 leon to rhd, thats easy campared to the converitng to 4x4

Would the LHD to RHD converstion be that difficult? Is the engine bay layout the same in both are are they a mirror image depending on driver position?

You'd obviously need to order a RHD dash but one would have thought the wiring looms would all reach, the really tricky parts would be re-routing the steering and brakes. Throttle is fly by wire and the clutch cable would be reasonably simple!?!?!

It would be interesting to see a LHD and an RHD stripped out to see how different they are.....

New wiring loom would probably be needed

Surely the controls don't differ and therefore the looms would be the same!?!? It might be that the loom would need to be extended?

It would be interestingto see just how different LHD and RHD cars are. Logic would dictate that the looms, clutch cables etc... came into the cabin in the middle of the bulk head and therefore could go to either side.

You'd need a LHD loom, the brake and clutch hydrolics would need moving, a RHD steering rack would be needed, at worst you'd need a rhd bulkhead if the LHD one is not adaptable, you'd also need the pedel box mountnig if not the pedel box itself. plus the steering columb mounts.its not that hard really aslong as you can get the engine out, the dash would need changing and thus the aircon and heating system two, its not a quick job, but given a donor RHD car it would be easy as pie.

Again I think this would come down to how much the LHD and RHD shells differ. If the bulkhead is symmetrical then everything should just swap over. If the are different bulkheads and the engine bay is mirrored between to 2 cars then it will be considerably harder.....

Back from the dead
As the majority of cars are left hookers make you wonder if there is already a conversion loom on ours to make them fit to right hand drive as ours are in the exception. Maybe they do make RHD looms, but would mean 2 lots od development costs.

As the centre consoles are universal only the upper dash segment would require changing.

Door mirror glasses and interior front door skins (for mirror adjusters). Pedals, cabling and mounts. I suppose wipers are not a life or death thing to spin over.

Surely for a seasoned pro thats not that hard.

...put hamsters fed on a diet of red bull and a wrap of speed inside your back wheels and get them running like billyo

great idea but only had pot to try with and now milk floats are hard to overtake!

seriously tho... having chipped my cupra i was hoping to increase road holding and handling.... still skatings pretty fun!

those 4x4 owners in spain dont know how lucky they are!

basically the engine bay is the same its the bulk head that may be different, this is due to Aircon piping Steering columb, steering Rack and braking/clutch hydrolics. basically you dont need a slave cylinder as the brakes run straight of the master. there is only one LHD bulkhead listed but two for the RHD car. however the two RHD part numbers have the sames description
