Hi Guys,

I am all set for some action on the track at Trax this weekend and low and behold, two days before the off it goes wrong. had it on VAGCOM and came up with the following:

16500 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Implausible Signal
16518 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: No Activty
17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor heating: B1 S1: Open Circuit

The symptoms are surging/stuttering power with no a VERy VERY unsteady power delivery.

I have read the Coolant Sensor is prone to going, and has been re-released by VAG, was a Blue sensor, now a Green sensor?? Also understand that this may through out the Lambda Sensors and they may nto actually be faulty, and at the worst will just mess with the fuelling and make fuel consumption terrible.

Basically, from experience, you guys recon a new Engine Coolant Sensor (G62) will do the trick???

Really want to get on that track!!!

Thanks in Advance...

Mr Rage

From memory the G62 isn't the black top that's been replaced by the green top, that is the G61 sensor. G62 is the sender for the temperature gauge, IIRC.

At about £20, it might be worth a punt, but I'd guess it's more like the Lambda sensor, or the wiring to it, are fubar. Had an aftermarket DP fitted?

No aftermarket DP. Replaced both the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor, it was an old black one, so replaced it with a Green one, and also replaced the Lambda and still no solution. Diagnosed as an open circuit of unidentified origin, and would need further diagnostics to find out where the problem lies. This requires money i simply dont have so no joy for me any time soon.
