Been driving around lately with a smell of fumes when reversing and I was also having a drop in power, bit jumpy on accelerating, so thought I'd check out the forum. Seems this is a common problem due to the original breather hose being totally useless.
Took off the engine cover to have a look and not surprised to find it has completely disintegrated, gone like blue tac and nearly split in half. Can't believe I didn't look for this earlier. A quick look around on the web found a few places to get a proper silicone job that won't be melting anytime soon.
Found Awesome GTI, Forge Motorsport do one but I ordered a red one from Viper Performance, v good service, got it in a couple of days and it fitted no problem. Took about 30mins and cost about £36 delivered. (Same price as an original SEAT replacement but much better i'm guessing). The only thing u will need is 3 jubilee clips or similar coz the originals aren't any good after you get them off and be a bit careful with fitting the hose onto the the plastic ports, i've read these can break although mine was no problem.
Anyway... now no fumes and runs 100x better... my old Leon is back!
If you've got the same issues, have a look under the engine cover asap!
