I have owned one of these for over 5 years now. Was an ex showroom model picked up in Dec 2019 for a real snip. (Paid £16k at 1.5k miles and Auto trader is still listing them at this reg for £13k means I have lost £3k in 5 years... get in!)

The car has just hit 30k miles and is regulary serviced, including auto gearbox oil at the 4 year mark (Dont believe the lifetime hype!)

I havnt had any issues at all during all this time, and I will be keeping it for the forseeable future, as its just a fantastic car, and the engine is as sweet as a nut (mapped for 3 years now). Still on original pads even.

Any other owners of this variant of car/engine had any reliability issues?

Anything to look out for as it gets older?

Just an interest sake post.

I've got the same car, only had it for a year and in ST guise.
Can i ask where you got it mapped from and what gains you achieved?

Only point I would think about as it gets older is carbon build up due to being direct injection - but probably not until 60-80k.

No one is saying this for the wet clutch DSG! They absolutely need regular oil servicing.
Some are for torque converted auto's and I agree this is dump and also should have oil changes.

As far as I am aware the DKZA has 2 systems for fuel injection. Direct injection and Indirect injection via the manifold.

see this. https://vwts.ru/articles/engine/engine-2-0-ea888-gen-3-bz-fitting-locations.html

Thus it should not suffer as much from carbon build up as the valves are better cleaned via the fueling via the inlet manifold.

I had it locally mapped and they also mapped the DSG, and with 97 Ron is appx 240bhp ... I understand revo also has a map.

Bought ours too just before covid hit for £15.5k at 4000 miles. Have done 17k miles now and not a single problem. On a motorway journey staying within the speed limits you're likely to see 50mpg, but it's still capable of 0-60 in 6.62 seconds according to my dragy. Stock tune.

Only had mine for about 2 months and done around 1500 miles since I've had it. It's a 19 plate ST.
Really liking it so far, nice engine and gearbox combo and can be economic without having to try too hard, 7th on the motorway is great.
Only issue so far is the boot badge sticks which I'll fix at some point.
