firstly hello to all the forum users this is my first post since joining !!

My question is that I have a leon 180 version and want more power, I have been told it may be possible to put an engine from a TT 225 bhp version, is this true?

would it be a straight swap ??

any help / advice welcome!!!:D

or BT conversion on the 180... you could do it.. but cost of engine alone from an LCR is prob around the 1k mark.

whats your total budget for the conversion?

why not sell the 180 and buy an LCR??

will be worth more in resale value, will have better brakes, nicer interior, nicer bumpers etc etv

Welcome

I think you have been mislead! The TT is the same engine just with a K04 rather than a K03s turbo, different software and twin intercoolers.

You can get to about 210bhp with a £500 remap, much cheaper than an engine change!

ok thanks guy's

i have approx 2k budget, i can source a tt engine / loom/ ecu etc for approx £8-900

can't quite afford a LCR, and i can't bear to part with my current car.... sad i know !!

if its a straight forward swap it might be worth considering don't you think ??

i think getting a big turbo conversion fitted.. or even the k04 LCR turbo, a remap and a FMIC you will see more gains for your money than faffing about trying to change engines when i think they are the same apart from turbo/intake and exhaust

I really wouldn't bother with the engine swop. I did it with my BMW, it seemed a good idea at the time, its was very straight forward and the results are fantastic. But insuring the thing is a total pain in the arse. Modifications are bad enough, but tell an insurer its a different engine in there? Forget it.

ihi it then get it remaped, 200 cell cat with full system exhaust, front mount forge intercooler and ull b well away leave what engne should be in the car its made for, dont forget though u'll need bigger brakes whatever way u go and better suspension if your goin to do this do it properly, no point havin good power and no braking that is really going to let it down otherwise!

Thanks for the advice and info!!

I thinking about this plan what do you think and is there any additional parts that you think I might need.

1. ko4 turbo
2.ko4 exhaust manifold
3.re-map
4 225 injectors
5 225 maf ??

will i need a modified downpipe ??

feel free to add to my list !!!!

yes to the MAF as they a larger diameter on the LCR and TT compared to the LC.

May need to uprate the intercooler too. you have one side mount intercooler at the moment, the LCR and TT have 2. however your inlet manifold is the wrong way aroudn to simply add the second one and as you are talking 270 you will be better off with a front mount.. anth £500.

price all this up, you really should save for a LCR

Not sure if you need a modified downpipe but its a worth while mod in any case while you have it in bits.

dont forget to budget for brakes etc.
