Im thinking of getting a 2006 seat leon 1.9tdi stylance 105bhp, what does everyone think of these cars? Any known faults? Is it a good car?

Turbos blow and spew oil into the intercooler and EGR valve without any prior warning! An £1800 job to get sorted at a main dealer. Fortunately I managed to get Seat to pay half because although our car was out of warranty it had only covered 25000 miles. Dealer did say that turbos on these engines are a problem right across the VAG range. The service history on my sis's Golf 105TDI shows it too has had a replacement turbo.

It's one to be aware of anyway. It was the only problem we had with our Seat in 3 years - just a shame it was such a biggy!

Same here with the turbo. Had two in a year. If you get one get an extended warrenty. Warrenty wise on the net are very good.

2 airbags replaced
rear drop links replaced
rear electric window switch faulty
drivers door control unit
1 software update to ecu
interior light replaced

the alarm occasionally plays up, the wing mirrors creak when folding and the glove box rattles.

Apart from that, it's been a good car.

I have a seat leon 1.9TDI 2007 and i have it remapped to 154bhp. And i have had it to 135mph. Its as good as a fr i have done 70k in it, in two years and it does long journey every weekend nothing has ever happened to it. I just worn my brake pads out haha. Lovely car better than a FR TDI on mpg. I am gonna keep it until it falls apart lovely motorway car and I have driven loads of car and trucks and even tanks haha. Gonna put a bigger turbo in it soon to 200bhp thats only down side always want it to go faster :) buy it

55 000 km, not a single mechanical fault in 4 years.
Most reliable car/engine so far.

give it beans only when it warms up and let it cool down after you give it beans and turbo will be fine.

love mine too bits and its surprisingly fast. Turbo is the only issue, had mine reconditioned ages ago and have had no problems since, and I do give it a fair bit of abuse as welll as long motorway stints.

Just keep an eye on oil level and let the turbo cool as dkaric says and it'll be fine. If you notice the oil dropping alot and alot of oil in the pipe to the egr and to the ic, then just buy a reconditioning kit for about £50-£100 and you'll be grand again.

You'll not be disappointed, mines never missed a beat, apart fromn the boost pipe popping off, but its a common problem, and you can just pop it back on again an secure it. And the mpg is amazing once you learn to drive it
