hi, i replaced mine with these (290602060572 ebay item number) in october and havent once had a light on or had one go out since. i do have a pre facelift however

Cheers for that mate - likelihood is that the canbus friendly ones do work with no errors on the pre facelifts. it's us Post facelift owners that seem to be suffering at the hands of the sodding canbus system haha

I bought some off ebay about 6 months ago, they were fine until about two months ago when they started throwing errors up, but as mentioned a cycle through the headlight selector cleared this. Last week they gave up completely and wouldnt come on when the car was started however they did come on when unlocking the car and the coming home lights come on.

Anyway I bought some new ones again off ebay last week and so far (touches wood) they havent thrown any errors. I'll pop the link up just now.

I'm not sure if they are different or not, but I had the 3smd ones before and they kept throwing errors up, when I spoke to hids direct about sidelights they said to buy 30smd sidelights so they draw more power then misleads the canbus system, too low and it throws errors up, hence I changed for biggest smd I could find at the time

These are the ones I currently have, but again mines a pre-facelift.

hahaha just had a look now and despite them claiming to be error free on the top of the page....look what cropped up at the bottom of the page hahaha.....and i quote...

"*ATTENTION: Some advanced canbus/bulb error systems may cause the lights to blink, turn off or still give an error on the dash. Such cars require additional load resistors to ensure normal working bulbs"

Cheers pal - i ordered the ones from HIDS-Direct upon their advice and still got the error. looks like the only way for the newer models (facelift) is to fit resistors which i am loathed to do.

The ones in my initial post on this very thread are 9SMD bought from HIDS-Direct and they claim to be error free and have an advance Heat Sink and built in resistors but they still throw up the error. thanks though

I have tried a few LED bulbs now for the rear plate, all burnet out after a short time.

I have had the following in now for 2-2.5 months, and still perfect, no flicker, warning lights. There plenty bright enough, and not to bright, and a nice colour to so look OEM

I have some sidelight 5 SMD LEDs (eBay) at the moment in, and a few LEDs have gone throwing the warning light up.

So will buy from Partulike again, saves wasting time and money.

Have you though about led number plate lights from a mk3 leon, they look the same size as the standard ones I had in my mk2
Although probably not cheap from Seat, if they fit at least you would know they would be can bus compatible

Hmmmm interesting idea mate....I did try and do this when I had my Exeo. I thought the Audi A4 LEDs would fit but they wouldn't. It's a whole unit/module as opposed to a bulb. They were bloody costly too as they're thought to last the lifetime of the car. But I'm going to enquire at SEAT next week when I'm off now you've mentioned it!! :)

Bad news on using the Leon MK3 LED number plate bulbs/units. They are a totally different fitting and the bulb is a different size. Well......according to my local parts bloke at SEAT Sheffield. He got the diagrams up for both the MK2 and MK3 and they are totally different he says. I am going to cruise up to Audi/VW Sheffield on my days off next week and have a butchers at the Golf and A3 on the advice of robthebubble (the LED master haha)

The mark 3 ones have three little smd leds built in to a circuit board, the unit is sealed the inside is not removable or replaceable, so don't know why the dealer said what he did lol
The light unit clips into the bumper, I'm sure its the same size as the mk2 unit
If It turns out to be bigger you could just trim your bumper slot a little

Worth taking a look at the dealers at some on a car as you said

Yeah definitely worth actually taking a trip and looking at them for myself as I experienced when trying the exact same thing at the Audi dealers with the Exeo. The apparent 'parts manager' comes out to take my query about LED number plate bulbs....his reply was "audi's don't have LED number plate bulbs, I think you mean Mercedes. ..." I dragged the silly smug B@#!÷×% over to every car in the showroom...R8, A4, A3, A5, A6 and soon he realised he should never have got the job as a 'parts manager'. Really hacks me off when they just try to fob you off as if you know nothing. There's only Dave at Sere NI who knows what he's on with!
