Had my LCR on the dyno last week and it turns out that it is running very, very lean - tester said it could a number of things but wouldnt know exactly until they had looked at a few things - anyway, he recommended I get it sorted kind of sharp as the car could go bang! - is this something that would be sorted out under the warranty as mine runs out in July and does anyone know what the likely cause(s) might be as to why its running so lean? - thanks guys.

If it's under warranty, get it back to Seat ASAP! They will investigate and do whatever is needed to get it working properly again. But once it's passed it's warranty, you're on your own!

Why it's running lean could be any number of things, but Seat will find it... eventually.

how did they measure it?

pokey thing up the exhaust? or measured off a probe

I took the car in for a power run and they completed one run - figures were:
197.6 bhp - flywheel
218 bhp - engine
216.6 Ibs/ft torque

Air to fuel ratio was something like 14 over 1 - the car is making a bit more torque than standard but power is down - car feels fine to drive to me - they cleaned the air flow metre and attempted a second run but aborted it for fear of damaging the car - I didnt think 218 was that far off - what is the actual figure for the 225 LCR? - anyhow, according to the dyno testers at Dastek the car is running dangerously lean - I think I will have to take it to Seat who can hook it up to the diagnostics.

The '225' is PS, so is actually around 222bhp. And it's not unusual for cars to make anything from 220-225, so your power sounds about right to me once you factor in a bit of 'dyno lottery' and temperature fluctuations.

As a 2nd opinion, I would run the car whilst logging block 30/31 on vagcom and see what the cars own wideband lambda is measuring before totally agreeing with the sensor used by the dyno (up the exhaust no doubt. hence subject to any exhaust leaks and ambient air if not shoved up high enough.)

you should be seeing 0.85 under boost roughly.

This is a forum ain't it? Oh are we not meant to discuss things on here?

Anyway, I would get the car to Seat right enough mate, It will surely have logged a fault code on the ECU they could investigate.... Good luck mate.

Sorry to go off topic mate, but this site can really contradict itself at times!
Whenever I see a thread which has been talked about before people ALWAYS SAY "USE THE SEARCH!"

I even included a couple of links so don't get smart!
