Hi

I have had a problem with my Leon leaking for a while now and would really really appreciate all replies....

I have annotated a picture of an LC to try and describe what I am on about.

Water seems to be leaking in through the back doors...

Upon looking at the rear seals indicated by the black line, they are clearly rotting away.

The red markings are little seals that seem to intersect the main seal at ninety degrees and are presumably designed to deflect any water leaking going down the gap between the doors (blue arrows) away. These are missing on the rear doors of my car, but present on the front.

Seat want to charge me £500-700 to get this sorted, as they want to take the door apart and seal various bits up, but I think the problem could be that the water is being allowed to sit between the door seal and the body of the car because the little seals marked in red are missing on the back. I think replacing the whole rear seal on both sides might rid me of the leakyness

Does anyone think this will work, or is this just wishful thinking?

Thanks

I have the same problem and I fixed it with Halfords rubber seal lubricant. Just clean all the seals all around the door with it (the top ones face the wrong way and get full of dirt).

I only water in the gap between the outer seals and the inner seals when I jet wash the car. Rain stays out!

You would be mad to spend that amount of money when this guide is pretty straightforward: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44216&highlight=door+seals
But that suggests they've dismissed your own thoughts as to the cause, because if it's the seals you describe that shouldn't involve taking the door apart at all as they are on the sills. Do you tend to park on much of a camber? I find that if I'm parked up tilted significantly sideways and it rains there is normally some collected water at risk of breaching the sills (but in my case it never gets over the lip into the footwell itself)
