Hi im new here and in the market for an LCR I have a budget of 5-6k and am looking at 03-04 plates. Does the spec change much between them, I have noticed some have recaro written on the seats and some don't, is there any difference. Also how can you tell a 210 from a 225? Only by the engine number? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance

weight is the enemy
From the outside, the easiest way to tell between a 210 and 225 are the wing mirrors. 210s had a squarer mirror the same as the Mk IV Golf. 225s have a teardrop shaped mirror. There are rumours that at the crossover some 210s had teardrops or some 225 had square mirrors but that's the rule generally. Also the 210s had black "R" badges whereas 225s had red ones. Inside the 225 has a chunkier steering wheel with a red "race style" band at the top. I'm sure there are other more subtle differences but you'll find plenty of threads on here about this. It's been done to death. Earlier cars had tape players, then they had CD changers and then the very last cars out of the factory had CD players and a Tracker fitted. (like mine). Also the colours changed too. Red changed from Flash Red to Emocion red I think and later on silver was introduced and then Platinum, originally as a limited edition and then virtually all the run out cars were Platinum.
The Recaros were an option on all LCRs. Satnav was also an option and much rarer. Apart from that the specs you'll find should all be pretty much the same.

I hope this helps. Good luck in your search, you've come to the right place to start looking. You might even find one on here in the classifieds.

Right, now everyone else can add the bits I missed........

more than a rumour, im a 225 with square wing m's lol,

anyway there are as people have said lots of subtle differences but to tbf i wouldnt worry too much whether you are buying a cupra r 225 or a cupra r 210, my understanding is that the real figures are 212 for the 210 and 218 for the 225, and both map to the same anyway.

I could be wrong on this but i don't think so as i spent a while looking through everything when i was trying to find out which mine was, still get arguments on occasion too!

generally I'd just go for the best deal you can get regardless of 225/210

I'm sorry people that have replied seem to be new. You will find the answers to all your questions by looking in the FAQ and a few searches.

There's a table somewhere with all the differences between 210 and 225 and also a page in Evo magazine this month.

sure the 225s are actualy 222bhp??

Check the link that wayne2601 just posted but to cut a long story short, SEAT are a European brand and as such they tend to give power figures in PS rather than BHP, thus the LCR225 actually makes 225PS. 225PS = 222bhp.

EDIT - in fact, while we're at it, see this post for the science behind it...
