Well I've seen a good remapped LCR up against a new Cupra over quite a distance, both in the hands of good drivers. There was little to separate them.

0-100 of a good remapped LCR 14secs, Standard Cupra 15.5-16secs

Masses amount more torque in remapped R should easily see off standard cupra.

I think too many people are getting excited too soon over this new 2.0 engine. Why 260bhp standard instead of the 237 claimed? Remap from 237 to 310bhp. Pubtalk figures IMO.

The reason im saying this is, if the cupra produced the same amount of power as the S3, independant 0-100 tests carried out ''should'' show Cupra being quicker against heavier 4wd of the S3.

The fact the cupra is a good 1.5secs off its pace, tells me these 260bhp figures are fantasy. Just me being a cynic i think:shrug: Again, a genuine 260bhp LCR can achieve a 0-100 of 14secs, proven (Ben) If cupra had a genuine 260bhp, that too should be achieving 0-100's in the 14sec mark.

But yet, some people on here think remapped R's map no better than 245bhp from an original 222bhp, but have no qualms in believing 237-310?? Crazy!!

I suppose time will tell, i remember reading early LCR threads back from 2002 claiming 300bhp easy from K04 LCR, now its 275 max as we are all slightly more educated.

condidering a s3 is 4 wheel drive that is probebly where the leon looses its time, every mk11 leon that i have seen on the rollers so far has been over 250bhp standard, i got 262bhp from mine standard on two differant sets of rollers (I KNOW DYNO LOTTERY), the lcr is slightly lighter than the new leon so it will make up time there. but either way if you put a mapped LCR against a mapped MK11 cupra i dont think there will be a hell of a lot of differance between the two cars

Alright lads and ladys

just joined this site as i was looking for some advice to see if you can amp the standard head unit of seat leaon mk1 and i was thinking of changing the dump valve, but i have heard that some cars do not like this:confused: just before i spend any cash. The amp that i have is just a cheep one (SPX) but does the job that i am looking for as it is not for blasting my windows out its just to make it sound alittle better........ please can anyone help.........:D

Having owned both, I can say without hesitation that there isn't a great deal much between a mapped R and a a standard Mk2 Cupra in day to day comparison.

Mapped R's have a little more get up and go for obvious reasons, but the difference isn't night and day. I also find the new car can put its power down better. The chassis more than makes up for the slight lack of power. The rev band is more usable too I find on the 2.0Litre.

I'll add though they are both great cars I have a soft spot for both, they are SEAT's and who gives a toss anyway. ;)

Just enjoy them whichever you drive, because there is always somebody out there much quicker and more powerful than you.

True Owen but S3 0-62mph is 5.7s against 6.4s for Cupra

That equates to 0.7secs difference.

Test results so far show S3 at around 13.5-14sec 0-100 and 15.5sec for the Cupra.

A good 1.5-2sec difference then. Take its 4wd launch advantage away of 0.7secs and the cupra is still a good 1sec off its pace in the mid range.

If cupra genuinally does have similar power, with the obvious effects of weight and transmission loss aswell i would think the cupra should be pulling it in mid range, not letting it spread further.

Audi S3 225 and LCR 225 identical for instance. Both with 222bhp, S3 has advantage off line by a good 0.5s but loses that advantage mid range and they both come in with a 17sec 0-100 time. Would think the same would apply with the 2 new cars aswell.

Unless of course, audis 265claims are way off aswell and its a 300hp monster:rolleyes:

Just call me a cynic:happy:

New Cupra is really beginning to grow on me now :) Lovely cars :)
