as above i have also suffered the above issue and many hours spent searching and researching this problem ..its finally cured... i replaced my fans with golf mk4 fans which are exactley the same as the cupra r fans, even the part numbers on fan frame are the same and the location for the electric after run pump is there.... so i hope ths helps everyone and its a lot cheaper than stealers took my 1.5 hrs to remove and replace...

That's nice to know Mark :D. Did you not try or consider a NIME box first?.

i paid £80 delivered for my fans from ebay and they where from from a mk4 golf emotion i had a mate check on etka and the fans are the same, the most important factor is that the fan cowl has to have the location for the after run pump on the frame

well after reading about the fan problems on here i decided to check my fans and when air con was switched on..the fans are supposed to spin slowly ( not real slow but not fast either ) but they wasnt so checked all connections to eliminate everything ....also the slow speed is not actually slow, speaking to a vw mechanic he said some people assumed the fans spun quite slowly which in fact is wrong...he says the fans spin quite quick to cool the a/c compressor( when a/c is on ) and the 2nd speed is for engine cooling which like he said is very quick and noisey..its been an interesting problem with the fans i looked at the nimes box and its a great method to achive slow speed fan, but my fans where knackered thats why i changed whole unit..and to be honest for the same price.. now im busy taking apart my old fans so my mate who is an atuo electrician is going to sort out the fault ..so i will have a spare set of fans to throw in when the problem starts again lol
