Hey!!

I've always been quite fond of Honda S2000s so today I took the opportunity to visit Honda Liverpool to check out a 6month old example (4k on the clock). It was on the market for £18995 (had depreciated £10000 in 6 months).

I absolutely loved it and was very interested in a swap until they told me what my car was/is worth...

My car is a 05 plat grey LCR in A1 condition with 26k on the clock.

All they could offer me was £5K (this offer was made by the local Seat garage who would buy the car off Honda after the exchange)!!! I was absolutely gutted to say the least :(...

Honda did ring two other Seat garages but they were unable to quote at the time...

Anybody have any experience of S2000s?

Thanks
Alex

dont do it!! the lcr is a beter car by far IMO! as soon as you buy the s2000 you can guarantee to lose even more money! the lcr has so much more going for it than the s2000 . you have it in a great colour with low mileage and one of the last reg's made id love to keep that anyday.

i'll second that.
and more also, the HONDA S2000 has been around a lot longer than a LCR so regardless og the reg, you are swapping it for an older design of car.
and remember, if Honda decide to bring out a new shape any time from now, you will be in deep ****.
sell your LCR in the new year and go for something alot better like a LOTUS ELISE or VX220.
HONDAS dont hold their money very well @ £18000 and its an old design.

5k,they are taking the p*ss mate,id tell them to stuff it.05 LCR with only 26k on the clock would be nearer 8k trade even now.Ive thought about selling mine but would lose too much on it so decided to keep it for long term now and mod it even more, the way i see it is spending money on modding the car is wasting money as i dont get it back come selling time, but then im wasting money trading in with depreciation and buying something else.I know which one id rather waste money on.

That's a p*ss take. If you glance at Autotrader as a comparison, I reckon they'll have that on the forecourt for £10k, maybe more. You have mileage on your side, that seems to be the deciding factor in prices these days. If you are desparate to sell then try doing it privately, I have an 03 LCR with 27,000miles and I can get at least £8k for it, well I could a couple of weeks back anyway.

As said above though, I wouldn't be surprised if Honda redesign the S2000 sometime soon, it's already had it's facelift. Saying that, you can't beat Honda reliability, it'll last you until the day you die pretty much :)

Thanks for the info guys!

At the time I was shocked but the LCR is defo worth more than 5k to me :)

I think I'll probably end up keeping it and getting it remapped. Theres also a few little niggles I want sorting so a respray might be in order (I'm a complete perfectionist) at some point :). I'm due a cambelt change next years so was wondering whether it would be worthwhile swapping before shelling out for that!

I do like the S2000 but dont think its worth 14k on top of mine lol!
