LCR TIP on a LC.......

I'm slowly getting all the parts for the GTRS conversion and hence I need to get the LCR/S3 etc... TIP.

I was thinking, I won't be abel to fit it to my exisiting KO3s and Maf housing as it will be slightly larger..... so it won't be able to go on until I get the full conversion done...... bummer....

However, what if I did want to fit it.... Is there a way I could theoretically "line" the Maf housing outlet and compressor inlet to slightly increase the diameter so that I could use the TIP straight away without it having to lie around for months until I get all the bits?

Cheers for the advice in advance chaps.

In simple terms no. The TIP is the correct size to fit between k04 turbo and LCR/S3MAF.

There is no way it will fit K03 setup without fabrication to the pipe. If you modify the pipe to fit your setup now, it obviously wont fit when you eventually stick the bigger maf/turbo.

OK, but in what way is the TIP setup so majorly different? Surely it's just got a slightly bigger bore - the orientation for comp inlet is the same on both turbos and MAFs? If it was such a big difference, then surely I wouldn't be able to use it with the ATP GTRS...... which replaces the stock KO3s...

What am I missing here?

1st question is does the ATP GTRS turbo have exactly the same size diameter turbo inlet as the K03 or the K04 or is it totally different?

By the sounds from your 1st post it has the same diameter as the K04 turbo.

Meaning you cannot fit it to a k03 turbo as you are now.

Im not being funny but why do you want to fit an uprated TIP now? You'll not benefit from it unless you know for a fact your standard tip is collapsing!

You're right , it has a slightly larger diameter to the K03 - similar to the K04.

What I'm trying to get at is... is there a custom way - (putting a sleeve maybe?) around the K03S inlet and the LC Maf so that the LCR TIP would fit snuggly on these parts?

And by fitting it, the only benefit is not just to prevent the hose colapsing - flow rate would certainly be up compared to the standard restrictive LC cast TIP and and flexi-ridged rubber part......

I'm looking for ideas here - ideas of how to fit it - not negative absolutes - there's never a thing as no it won't fit in performance tuning (at least not that I've come across in terms of engine peripherals). The only reason I wouldn't fit it would be if it caused g/s flow readings to be thrown out creating timing/fueling issues etc....

Cheers

Anything is possible but the measurements are very precise and the TIP is a tight fit in between turbo and MAF sensor.

For you to add a reducer sleeve it would lengthen the pipe no doubt so it would not fit. You could cut the TIP, add the sleeves and then fit. It would work that way but when you get your new turbo, the TIP would then be too short when the reducers were removed.

Im not so sure if you can put in a reducer sleeve flush into either side of the pipe so it keeps it original length, i would imagine you would have problems fitting that and sliding it over turbo/MAF.

Yeh, your 2nd point is exactly what I was thinking - some sort of inner sleeve (or outer sleeve if placed over the turbo inlet) so that the extra I/D of the hose would be taken up by that sleeve and the TIP would fit flush..... Not exactly sure what I would use though... some uber heat resistnat tape and give it a few good wraps around th inlet....and Maf housing....?? Another small Silicone hose? Not sure that would work becasue of slippage, fitting issues as you say. You're right, I certainly don't want to modify the LCR TIP otherwise it would be pointless when it comes to the BT.....
