LCR & strange noises! help!

Hello chaps....I need some help!

Ok, I picked up my new baby last weekend and after 1000mls...yep 1000mls I've noticed a few things...minor or major I dont know... this is where I need your help!

1. When starting it sounds like a bag of bolts and makes what can only be discribed as a ticking.... this normal?

2. When at idle its very lumpy and seams to be hunting a little (ticks over about 700 rpm)..... this normal?

3. After its warmed up a bit I get a dull faint knocking (along with the above!), and can be felt it a little.... this normal?

Any replys will be greatly received...thanks guys.

Oh, btw...the dealer told me I have a rare key... I thought "yeah right"... its one of those flick type things... who else got those.... everyone i suspect!

1. When cold (I think) all LCR makes a mettalic rattle sound for a second or two, when started then dies off. Also makes a ticking noise when idling too, comes from a box in the front n/s of the engine bay, this is normal.

2. Not so normal, my LCR idles pretty smooth to be honest, maybe in need of a service..??

3. Not so normal again, this doesn't sound too good, maybe needs checking by a garage, just to be on the safe side.

I have a flick key, Turbobanana with his LCR has a flip key, it certainly aint rare for a LCR, or even a LC of that age (have mate with a 2001 LC and has a normal key).

Hi Spanky...Thanks for the reply matey. Ok,I know feel sh*te about my new toy! TBH, I did'nt think the last 2 things were right, I did mentio this to the dealer...and got the stock answer "they all do that" hummmmmmm! I can feel my blood pressure getting higher!!!!

As for the key... just as I thought...total crap!!!!!

Ok, next question.... Who has tried the Seat 30day no quibble exchange!!!!!

Oh...I forgot to mention.... Its a 05 model, with 7k mls.... and after giving it a clean discovered some dodgy paintwork/touch ups... in fact more than I should have!

Should I contact SEAT UK????

could the knocking be the exhaust? mine idles at 800rpm but its a 01 model?
dodgy idle... going all over the place turned out to be the maf sensor on my LC

dont think its the exhaust...not sure tho. Had a Ibiza 20vt cupra for 5 years.... no probs at all, it had done 110.000k mls was on the same clutch and only its 3rd set of pads.... this thing feels like it wont last 11000mls!

Seams to go Ok tho, bit flat sometimes... am I being paranoid?

my exhaust wasnt fitted right and as it got hotter it expanded and bashed against the rear beam if i had a passenger in the car. have a look for any shiny marks where its hitting somthing.

does the knock sound engine related?

Did you buy it from a Seat Dealership, if so, that is your 1st point of call, and give them every opportunity of sorting it out, if you think you are going to have a battle, make a note of every telephone call, every conversation, who said what, their name etc.

yeah, the knocking seams engine related, only happends when its warmed up! Told the dealer (SEAT Dealer BTW) and was told its to do with the engine regulating the emissions.... this sound right???

Empi5...I suppose I should really, Problem is they are a new dealership and have limited knowledge!

must be plenty of dealers around the kent area just goto another dealer.i can get mine to knock sometimes when i get the engine under load mainly when doing hill starts and such.

ive owned my 2003 Cupra R for just over 2 weeks..

yeh agreed mine also ticks as stated by Spanky.. normal for the Cupra's.

LOL mate mine was the same got it home after buying it gave it a good clean and polish to notice a whole bunch of chips and touch up workonly at the front of the car front end of the bonnet etc. !!

annoying but what can ya do!! im using Autoglym's paint renovator working a treat at the mo.. then with the high resin polish after, comes up beautifully.. worth investing in..

i hate fecking cowboys!! how can he tell you that was a special key especially for an 05 model..
