Hi guys,

Well Im going of to the USA for 5 months starting Jan 6th and I will basically be cleaning the leon/polish/wax etc and covering it up with a good car cover I was wondering is their anything else I have to do to it such as unplug the battery and thing like that? It just had its 30000KM service so the oil is new.

Happy Holiday's!

i'd leave it on axle stands as that is what a lot of caravan owners do. a good clean & wax wouldn't be a bad idea before covering it and make sure the handbrake isn't left on!

stick it in a locked garage then windows etc are a prob. and if i was going for a few months then i would hate to leave the car in the open.

Well I have to leave it outside I have no choice but its inside my house. I have an outdoor garage in the back garden its all fenced though and its a safe neighbourhood so that not a prob. So I'll over inflate the tires and take off the battery and try and get axle stands if possible?

if its outside is axel stands a good idea. if its windy they will fall over surely.

but then again remove the wheels put it on axel stands and then noone can nick it.

Surrey darling...
THe benefit of leaving it on axel stands is that your tyres wont flat spot as there wouldn't be any weight on them... I doubt it'd fall over in the wind either as the whole weight of the car will be on the stands! If you do this then leave the wheels on as thats kinda the whole point mate ;)

Last time I left a car for nay length of time, the clutch stuck to the flywheel.

Keep the clutch to the floor with a length of wood?

Oh, and my LCR brakes always used to bond to the disks if I left it stood for more than a few days - chock the wheels and leave the handbrake off?
