LCR stiff clutch

Flight Test

Hello i'm new here so please bear with me... I did at least try a search!

I have bought an LCR from a dealer who had two, one was stonechipped to death and had an absurdly light clutch (which i left), the other in far better condition has quite a stiff clutch (which i'm taking). Dealer claims its about average for VAG products, but my freinds A3 quattro is quite light too?

I know the car has a hydro clutch so is this a problem, or does the pedal need a lettle grease/oil or just use (i guess its been sitting a couple of weeks)?

Its an 04 225bhp model btw. Many thanks in advance, Pete. :help:

hmmm, the other one was soooo light and better for it, shame it was scruffy as hell!

Thats funny really because it's much heavier than my Nissan 200sx, almost on par with the 205 gti i had after the cable got stiff!

The cltuch in my LCR seems light as hell in comparison to my old GTi-6. Possibly the most ridiculously stiff clutch ever!

I like the LCR clutch, it's just about right.

ok, it seems there is some variation which puts my mind at rest. I shall grease the pivots and check for dodgy welding at the same time (my mates A3 quattro pedal snapped).

These new vag products seem very heavily built as in lots of foam in wings, doors, good interiors etc making them feel solid but mechanically the quality seems way behind the japs - although you seem to get less toys. Lots of plastic under the bonnet where i'd like to see metal, and lots of probs with this that and the other. I hope this LCR is as solid as my 200sx!

i find the clutch on my LCR (original one) is average, not too light or heavy, but a bit long for a hot hatch! :(

i have driven two cupras (pre and post facelift) and both had the same clutch... a lot stiffer than mine but 50/75% LESS peddle travel!

imo if mine had the same shorter peddle travel it would be ideal for me!

no one likes a stiff clutch especially when ur tired and stuck in a jam on the motorway!
