LCR overheating

my lcr overheated last night was just trudling along a2 back from lakeside when the temp gauge shot up and the warnin light came on coasted onto the hard shoulder and it cooled down seems like the water pump has gone so have go to smoke about in a new tdci focus as the dealer didn't have a loan car thank god it has top AA cover....

not an unusual fault on our cars in later life. Pumps are supposed to be absolutely crap buildwise.

yep it'll be the water pump... mine went after 30K miles! the pump fan is only made from composite plastics not metal, and are pants... been told they where designed that way to break if your water coolent froze

Had similar problem, also waterpump after 31K miles. Really sucks, alot of Leon's have this problem and VAG does nothing about it. So no guarantee over here in the Netherlands.

all done dealers said the water pump impeller had broken up new belt and pump under warrenty

Sounds like what i've just experienced this morning - only just made it to work so it's time to call the AA

Funny you should say this... my LCR was booked in for its 40k service on Tuesday, 3 days before its warranty ran out...

not expecnting camberley seat to find anything... but they found the water pump was faulty (what you said) but also replaced the front fans under warranty, oh and did the suspension top mounts too... very impressed with their service every time ive been there...

Theres a metal impella upgrade from AMD i think that sorts most of these issues out

Well I had my water pump and cambelt done on sat and the impeller had sheared off the pump entirely. All is well now (well it was once i fixed the boost leak problem i had on sunday [intercooler pipe was loose])
