LCR or Focus RS

I currently own a Mk4 Ibiza Tdi 130, wanting to upgrade to a performance car though. I think I'm missing my Clio 172!

Which do you think would be the best bet to go for out of these two? (Unbiased view if possible!) Cheers in advance.

I think the LCR is better value for money. Limitedness of the RS might make it a better buy, but not sure as the new Focus ST is now out.

Best bet is to go test drive the 2, and see what you prefer the drive of.

All the best.

let me guess, a blue focus RS?

had a tustle with a focus rs a while ago in my mk3 cupra with remap, and i pulled lengths on him. He was giving it some and i just wander if in a straight line they are slower than a LCR with remap, i bet they are, on bends focus woudl handle well though. up to you :)

The Focus takes a lot more driving, it can be hard work sometimes, heavy clutch, needs to be in the power band most of the time and the torque steer on uneven roads just ends up a pain the arse! In defence of the RS, on good dry roads there aren't any other fwd cars I've been in that can handle as good as the RS, putting a big grin on your face. I would say that the RS is a car for hardcore driving enthusiasts

But IMHO, its the LCR any day. Had a friend who had an S3, sold it to buy an RS and changed again about a month later as he hated it. Guess you would hear the opposite on a Focus RS forum though, as it is mostly down to peronsal opinion.

A focus RS really turns heads and puts a little smile on my face each time I see one!!
Never owned one or tussled with one so cant really comment on driving qualities.
New focus ST supposed to be quicker in certain conditions and looks the dogs in my oppinion!!!!

I believe the new ST is quicker round the 'ring by about 10 seconds!?!? I can't remember the RS's specs but it's certainly not slow!

Remember that the Focus is 3 door and the LCR 5 so that might sway your decision?

I'd be tempted to give the RS a go and run it until the new Cupra makes and appearance....

i had a FOCUS RS, ( 300bhp ) which i can say is a truely awesome car.
never driven a LCR, so could not comment on it.
as the RS is a limited adition, only 4,500 made & 2,500 got into this country, it looks good & dose turn heads, there are plenty of mods to take the car from standard 212bhp - 450bhp.
but be expected to pay around the £15,000 for a good low milage car, & anyrhing up to £20,000 for a car with plenty of mods & well looked after.
but i will agree with all others that the LCR, has more gizzmo's inside etc:
here is a pic of the FOCUS RS i used too own.

Not too keen on the twin exhausts on that RS, but that sure is a beautiful motor. I wanted an RS Focus but jumped head first into an S3. Wish I'd have bought the RS instead of my S3 now, but still loving the LCR - no regrets.

i hate fords, but the focus RS is the better car for out and out driving. I'm an LCR man, and am:

a) suffering the depreciation following the Mk2 / price reductions
b) suffering the lack of handling

Personally I hate the old concept focus dash, but it was a damn good car in its day. When ford set out to build a world beater they tend to get it right (exclude RS500). However new ST is supposed to be even quicker round the ring. Don't get me wrong, LCR is a great car, but if your a 'driver' rather than a 'car owner ' then buy the RS

ah ok--me being a complete northern idiot, I pressumed you had bought another RS---silly me you would not be on here then would you--
NO M8.
bought the cupra tdi, because i like it & had to do some miles for work.
but now i,m not, & sometimes i wish i had not sold my RS, as it was a show car, with some power & looks.
it was featured 3 times in mags, ( performance ford twice, & fast ford once.)
it was also on fast fords stand @ trax last year.

Twin exhausts? Are some of you getting confused with the new Focus? The ST not the RS? Not driven the RS but there around the same price as the ST, I have driven one of those! All I can say is if the ST was out when I bought the LCR I would have gone for the ST as it has all the bits I wanted, 3dr, blue, leather seats and they will hold there value more, alos the 2.5 lump is great.

Down side both the ST and RS are almost double and LCR. Have you tried insurance quotes etc? As that’s another thing that put me off the RS as its very very steal able!

God those twin pipes on tour Rs were awful! The car itself is an awesome machine and i would love one, but IMO cars like the RS need to be left standard on the outside and then tuned to the hilt lol

The LCR is the better looking car IMO but agreed, from my limited experience of the two the RS is the more drivers car and the LCR the more all rounder of the 2

the lcr is a lil slower thn the focus rs in a straight line standard wise the focus rs will out handle the lcr any day but it is the best fwd hot hatch around due to the limited slip diff gearbox and th massive arb's but this takes its toll on clutch life heavyness of the clutch and town driving, the lcr looks as good as the focus rs, but does come wit better goodies, alos for £500 revo ull be seein 265bhp which will lose the focus rs on straights but the focus rs engine is not so tunnable as in just a chip a chip wit zorst and filter will only produce around 240bhp due to duractec engine wit th small turbo it has but u can get the most common up-grade of ggr (graham goode racing) package which includes mappin, zorst filter bigger turbo and tubular manifold around £3k mark, the foucs rs is rare as it limited edition and does look lovly as standard as does the lcr though (i do know a bit about theses rs's as im a ford nut)
