As circled in red, to the left of the jubilee clip, this part of the breather system has split, and is spitting oil and smoke.

It appears to be some kind of joint, can anyone tell me what part I will need to change and whether it's simple DIY or a garage job for access - as I only have a sloped driveway so can't jack up.

In case it helps, this is looking down the front of the block between the inlet manifold and the cam cover. Near the dipstick tube.

That's the pipe AMD just change when I was getting my car mapped, had a boost leak and they said that's the most common place for them to split, positive it was, under the manafold near the dipstick

Phone AMD and ask them for some information, I got charged £65 for the part, they changed my dipstick tube also as it was leaking oil also, just tell them where you have the boost leak and if they can ether get you the part or tell you were to get one from

No boost leak, it's a breather hose connection as far as I'm aware.

It smokes oil smoke out of there whilst idling.

I'd not expect that from a boost leak, and not throwing any codes.

My car didn't have any codes ether, but AMD put the engine on a presure test and found the leak right were your pipe has split

I replaced the pipe to the right of that t piece that goes to the tip on my lcr. It's a bit fiddly but doable. I cut the jubilee clips off with a dremel using a small cutting disc which is much easier than trying to undo it.
If you remove the plastic cover on the inlet manifold near where the dipstick tube clips on that will give you more access. If you disturb the j pipe coming out of the oil filter housing you might want to get a new one as they snap easily same goes for the dipstick tube.

Here is a better photo, shows the large rubber breather pipe from the valve, that joins the hard platic pipe coming out the block.

I believe the PO did 'PCV Delete' on my car.

Now the large bore rubber breather is OK, and it is joined by the split/broken part to the hard plastic pipe off the front of the block.

Is this after market, and can anyone suggest what bore joiner I'll need to replace it with?

It seems the hard plastic pipe and the soft rubber pipe are of the same internal diameter hence the joiner pipe.

That looks like that pipe is coming of that t piece I mentioned earlier. You might be able to just measure the inside diameter after remove the pipe. You might need a new t piece too. It looks a bit different to my cars setup as mine had a more rigid pipe which was standard.

why don't you just go to the scrapies and get another pipe and t piece

Where the red circle is above, there is NO T piece - It's just two hoses butted together.

I have limited access to tools and time now and use the car every day for work - I was hoping to be able to buy the right bit online and get my mate to sort it out on his ramp

Don't think you will need a ramp mate just a set of hose pliers or screwdriver and hose clamps, I could have fixed that in 5min tomorrow if you stayed near me

Agreed a very simple job, but I've got more money than time at the moment, and a lack of access to my tools as I mentioned before.
