lcr ignition key wiggle

just bought a leon 225 lcr ..when i go to start it its dead but give the key a wiggle and it starts ..are these bad for ignition switch wear ..anyone came across this..:wtf:

Unfortunately this sounds like a couple of hours for an auto electrician and if you need specific parts for your car (coded keys and locks etc) it won;t be too cheap.

Any chance you can take it back to where you bought it? any type of warranty with the sale?

As for ignition switch wear :no: this is standard Audi / VW stuff usually bullet proof

the car has 80000 miles on it its my second lcr ..just thought any one with a higher mileage lcr might have had this fault ..just incase it has a ignition switch at the end of barrel that wears..like all vw audis do and they arent bullet proof ..trust me

I have exactly the same problem (after about 65,000 miles). Brought a new ignition switch (about £10 from Eurocarparts). Chap who sold it said they are known for wear. Havn't fitted it yet. It means wrestling the steering wheel off. It is a circular thing which fits on the end of the barrel.
