LCR Engine Probs Any Ideas

Ok heres the problem. Car seems to be driving fine under part throttle maybe upto 60%, but if you try WOT it feels exactly like a coil pack has bust (i had one go a few months back, 1st to go after 65,000 miles).

Yet at idle and as I say driving with part throttle it feels fine, it almost seems like it's when the turbo is called into play (does the turbo only kick in at WOT, it feels like it).

I've searched the forums and found another post which showed what I think are similar syptoms and this was fixed with a coil pack. Just I thought coil packs just went and that was it 3 cylinders all the time.

Any ideas on this, looking for a little reassurance that it's a coil and I can sort that myself tomorrow and not something more serious.

id imagine that a coil pack would normally 'go' but im sure it could deteriorate.

have you checked they are all seated correctly as they can rise up over time.

if its similair to coil pack issues you have had before then it sounds like the first place to check.

if that doesnt solve it look at the MAF. but it could be a few things
if you know anyone with Cag com give it a go.

or if someones willing to swap or lend a coil pack or two for a bit..

ps for anyone else im pressuming WOT means wide open throttle!?

Update

Ok taken the car out for a little spin to see if i can put my finger on this.

Having searched through the forums for similar problems I found quite a few relating to the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) and N75 and the dump valve.

I am hoping it is a coil pack related problem (cheap and easy to fix) and when the problem occurs (when accelerating hard under load, doesn't occur when stationary and just reving the engine) it is exactly like running on 3 cylinder (dull thuding noise and shuddering from engine).

When the last coil pack went it just went, one minute fine the next limited to 3 cylinders as if you'd unplugged the coil.

Do the coil packs deteriate and is it effected by load?

definatly check they are all inplace correctly and are not wet seeing its been very wet today.
