Hi Chaps,

A few days ago I posted for some advice on buying an LCR, and a few of you came forward with some handy hints.
Left a deposit with the loke after checking the car over, and I have to say 'cant wait to get me hand on it'

Anyway I'm trying to verify the engine number on the car but I could not find it, can anyone help?, I spoke to a guy at SEAT who told me that I will see it on the left hand side as soon as I open the bonnet, but no joy. I can see the BAM on the V5 document but I wanna check it on the engine as I need to co-verify with the HPI I did.

If you lot can help I would be very appreciative?

Thanks

Jay

THe engine number is not easily visible.

If you've seen 'BAM' you're fine

however - if it's had a new block, it won't have been changed on the V5 definately.

Thanks Mark, this will help my confidence. I deffo saw the letters BAM. The car is a 54 plate with 20k on the clock, all documentation looks ok, HPI is fine, bloke bought the car as an approved usued vehicle, which I will evrify from the garage. Test drove it Saturday, felt fine, panels were all ok and lined up. Could not really fault the car. Fingers crossed, so far so good. I already left a deposit on it pending verification of codes etc etc.

I think, if I call the SEAT dealer he bought it from that will put my mind at ease, its even got warranty till Sep07.

What d'ya think?, Am I missing anything?

make sure it's not silver...... (platinum is ok)

54 plate is still in warrantee, so if anything is b*ggered it'll be covered within reason

Some (but not all) Silver 225's were track cars for the Demo's at prodrive live for Cupra R owners

there's a guy on here who's bought 2.... they're sold on as approved used into the network with lowish (1500) miles

of course, it might not be.

Who's the previous owner on the V5?

cant remember I will have to check. However I do know the bloke bought the car from a dealer in March 06, and the previous owner had a private plate on it. This shows on the HPI, and shows as clear...

HPI won't show repairs - in all honesty it's an outstanding credit check, nothing more.

If it wasn't SEAT Special Operations, you'll be OK - and given it was sold in March '06 I'm sure it's not a track car!

then again.... why does the guy want to sell after 8 months?

3 owners in 2 yrs won't look good if you 'need' to sell it (just food for thought)
